Organist Education Scheme

Berkshire Organists' Association is delighted to offer an organist education scheme. This includes a free introduction and assessment session, followed by five individual lessons. A donation to the Association is requested, but, thanks to subsidy from the Association, there is no fee for the lessons.

Who can apply?

The scheme is open to anyone with piano skills roughly equivalent to Grade 4 or above. Please be aware that students aged under 18 should be accompanied by an adult at all times.

What is the objective for the student?

Each student will have their own objectives. For example, you might wish:

  • to try out the organ, to help you decide whether it is an instrument you wish to study further
  • to learn to play hymns, or improve your hymn playing, in order to play for church services
  • to improve your performance of selected pieces
  • to have an organ playing 'health check' after an extended period when you have had no organ lessons
